The Manaslu Circuit Trekking is a 12-day journey around Mount Manaslu (8,163 m), taking you from the lower Budi Gandaki valley into the high Himalayan landscapes of northern Nepal. The trek reaches its highest point at Larke La Pass (5,106 m / 16,752 ft) and combines dramatic mountain scenery with Tibetan-influenced villages, Buddhist monasteries, suspension bridges and remote highland trails.
Starting and ending in Kathmandu, the route follows the Budi Gandaki Valley from Machha Khola through Jagat, Deng, Namrung and Shyala before reaching Samagaon. After an acclimatization hike toward Manaslu Base Camp (4,800 m) and time around Samdo, the trail climbs to Larke Phedi and crosses Larke La before descending toward Bimtang.
The journey gradually changes from lush lower valleys and terraced hillsides to alpine terrain, with the Manaslu massif becoming increasingly prominent as you gain elevation. Along the way, you encounter traditional settlements, mani walls, chortens, monasteries and yak-grazing landscapes that reflect the region's strong Tibetan Buddhist influence.
With Nepal Lion Tours, the 12-day Manaslu Circuit package starts from USD 831.25 per person and includes the core trekking arrangements, including accommodation and meals during the trek, a licensed trekking guide, required permits, transportation between Kathmandu and the trail, and the listed trekking services.
What Makes the Manaslu Circuit Trek Special?
The appeal of the Manaslu Circuit Trek lies in the dramatic change of landscape along the route. The journey begins beside the Budi Gandaki River, where narrow gorges, waterfalls, suspension bridges and terraced farmland shape the trail. As you move beyond Deng, the scenery becomes increasingly influenced by Tibetan culture and high-mountain environments.
Villages such as Namrung, Shyala, Samagaon and Samdo provide some of the trek's most memorable cultural and scenic stops. Buddhist monasteries, prayer walls, chortens and traditional stone-built settlements appear alongside increasingly expansive views of Manaslu and the surrounding Himalayan peaks.
A major highlight is the acclimatization hike from Samagaon toward Manaslu Base Camp, reaching approximately 4,800 m. The route also passes Birendra Lake and provides close views of the Manaslu glacier and surrounding mountain landscape.
The final challenge is Larke La Pass at 5,106 m. Starting from Larke Phedi, the trail climbs through high-altitude terrain before reaching the pass, where the surrounding Himalayan panorama opens toward the Manaslu region, Ganesh Himal and the Tibetan side of the Himalayas. The descent toward Bimtang then marks the transition from the high pass back into lower mountain terrain.
Why Choose the 12-Day Manaslu Circuit Trek?
This itinerary brings together high-altitude trekking, mountain scenery, Himalayan culture and a challenging pass crossing within a compact 12-day schedule. Rather than focusing on a single destination, the route takes you through several distinct environments as the Budi Gandaki Valley gradually rises toward the high Himalayas.
The trek is particularly suited to travellers who want more than a short introduction to Nepal's mountain trails. With acclimatization time around Samagaon and Samdo, the itinerary allows you to experience the high-altitude section of the circuit while exploring villages and landscapes that become progressively more remote.
Who Is the Manaslu Circuit Trek Suitable For?
The 12-day Manaslu Circuit Trek is suitable for:
- Trekkers with good fitness who can handle 4–8 hours of walking per day
- Travellers looking for a challenging Himalayan trekking experience
- Those interested in Tibetan Buddhist culture and mountain communities
- Trekkers who want to cross a 5,000-metre Himalayan pass
- Experienced hikers looking to progress from shorter Himalayan treks
- Travellers attracted to remote valleys, high mountain landscapes and traditional villages
- Small groups, couples and private trekking groups
Previous high-altitude trekking experience is strongly recommended, although the route does not involve technical mountaineering. You should be prepared for consecutive days of walking, steep and uneven sections, changing weather and the effects of altitude, particularly during the approach to Larke La Pass.

Manaslu Circuit Elevation Profile
The trek begins at Machha Khola (930 m) and gains elevation gradually through Jagat, Deng, Namrung and Shyala before reaching Samagaon (3,570 m). The highest acclimatization hike reaches Manaslu Base Camp at 4,800 m, followed by the final ascent to Larke La Pass at 5,106 m.
The route then drops significantly toward Bimtang, making the pass day a major change in both elevation and terrain. Because the trek combines several days of altitude gain with a high pass crossing, maintaining a steady pace and following the planned acclimatization schedule are important parts of the journey.
The Manaslu Circuit elevation profile is therefore defined by a gradual climb from the Budi Gandaki Valley, two acclimatization stages around the upper settlements, the 5,106 m Larke La crossing, and a long descent toward Bimtang.
How to Get to the Manaslu Circuit Trek
The Manaslu Circuit Trek begins with a road journey from Kathmandu to Machha Khola, the starting point of the trekking section. Unlike treks that begin near an airport or require a mountain flight, the Manaslu route is accessed primarily by road through Dhading and Gorkha before entering the Budi Gandaki Valley.
For the standard itinerary, you travel from Kathmandu to Machha Khola (930 m) by local deluxe bus. The journey takes you from the Kathmandu Valley into increasingly rural landscapes before reaching the roadhead where the trek begins.
Kathmandu to Machha Khola
Transport | Route | Purpose |
Local deluxe bus | Kathmandu → Dhading → Gorkha → Machha Khola | Main approach to the trekking trail |
Private vehicle | Kathmandu → Machha Khola | More flexibility and private travel option |
The road journey can be long, and travel time may vary according to traffic, road conditions, construction and weather. The final approach to Machha Khola includes rougher road sections, so flexibility is useful when planning your arrival.
Once you reach Machha Khola, the journey changes from road travel to trekking. The trail follows the Budi Gandaki River toward Jagat, Deng, Namrung and the higher villages of the Manaslu region.
Getting to the Manaslu Trailhead
The trailhead is reached by road rather than by domestic flight. This makes Machha Khola an important starting point for the 12-day itinerary.
If you are arriving in Nepal internationally, allow enough time between your arrival in Kathmandu and the scheduled departure for Machha Khola. Road journeys in the region are subject to changing conditions, so avoiding a very tight connection helps keep the trekking schedule flexible.
Returning from the Manaslu Circuit
After crossing Larke La Pass (5,106 m), the trail descends toward Bimtang. From the lower section of the route, you connect with road transport for the return journey to Kathmandu.
Because the final day combines the high-pass crossing, descent and road travel, actual arrival time in Kathmandu can vary. It is therefore advisable not to schedule an important onward journey immediately after the trek.
Transportation with Nepal Lion Tours
For the standard Manaslu Circuit Trekking package, transportation between Kathmandu and the trekking route is arranged as part of the itinerary. Private vehicle arrangements can also be discussed if you prefer a more flexible approach to the road journey.
If your international arrival, departure or other Nepal travel plans require adjustments, confirm the transportation schedule with Nepal Lion Tours before departure.
Manaslu Circuit Trek Difficulty, Fitness & Altitude
The Manaslu Circuit Trek is graded moderate to challenging, mainly because of its high altitude, long walking days, varied terrain and the crossing of Larke La Pass at 5,106 m / 16,752 ft. The trail begins at around 930 m at Machha Khola and gradually climbs into the alpine zone, requiring good fitness and sensible pacing.
Most trekking days involve approximately 4–8 hours of walking, with steep ascents, uneven paths, rocky sections, suspension bridges and a demanding pass-crossing day. The itinerary also includes acclimatization hikes from Samagaon and Samdo before reaching the highest point of the circuit.
Where Is the Manaslu Circuit Trek Most Challenging?
The difficulty builds progressively rather than coming from one section alone.
- Machha Khola to Deng: Lower sections involve long walking days, uneven trails, river crossings, steep sections and narrow Budi Gandaki gorges.
- Namrung to Samagaon: Increasing elevation makes the walking more demanding as the trail moves above 3,000 m.
- Samagaon to Manaslu Base Camp: The acclimatization hike reaches approximately 4,800 m, making altitude an important factor even though you return to Samagaon to sleep.
- Larke La Pass: The final crossing is the most demanding part of the trek, combining an early start, high altitude, cold conditions and a long descent toward Bimtang.
Fitness and Preparation for the Manaslu Circuit
You do not need technical climbing skills, but you should arrive with enough endurance to walk for several consecutive days at changing elevations. Preparation should focus on cardiovascular fitness, leg strength and sustained uphill and downhill walking.
- Build walking endurance: Walk or hike regularly before departure and gradually increase the duration.
- Train on hills and stairs: Include sustained climbs and descents to prepare for the varied gradients on the Manaslu trail.
- Strengthen your legs: Squats, lunges, step-ups and calf exercises can support repeated uphill and downhill movement.
- Practise with a daypack: Include longer training walks while carrying the equipment you expect to use on the trail.
- Prepare for consecutive days: Gradually build your ability to stay active for several hours on successive days.
- Allow recovery time: Reduce strenuous training before departure so you begin the trek rested.
Is the Manaslu Circuit Suitable for First-Time Trekkers?
The trek is possible for fit first-time Himalayan trekkers, but it is not an ideal choice for someone with little hiking experience or poor physical preparation. The combination of high altitude, remote terrain and the 5,106 m Larke La crossing makes previous trekking experience particularly useful.
Travellers who have completed routes such as Poon Hill or Langtang and want to progress to a longer, higher-altitude adventure may find the Manaslu Circuit a suitable next challenge. Regardless of experience, the ability to handle long walking days and adapt to altitude is more important than speed.
Altitude, Acclimatization & Safety
Altitude is one of the most important considerations on the Manaslu Circuit Trek. The route rises from 930 m at Machha Khola to 5,106 m at Larke La, with overnight stops gradually increasing in elevation.
The itinerary includes an acclimatization day at Samagaon, including a hike toward Manaslu Base Camp, followed by an acclimatization day around Samdo. These stages provide time for your body to adjust before the final high-altitude section.
Even experienced trekkers can develop acute mountain sickness (AMS). Walk steadily, stay hydrated, eat regularly, get adequate rest and tell your guide promptly if you develop symptoms.
Manaslu Circuit Altitude Profile
- Machha Khola — 930 m / 3,051 ft: Starting point of the trekking section.
- Jagat — 1,410 m / 4,626 ft: First major elevation gain along the Budi Gandaki route.
- Deng — 1,800 m / 5,906 ft: Mountain terrain becomes increasingly rugged.
- Namrung — 2,660 m / 8,727 ft: Higher Himalayan environment begins to develop.
- Shyala — 3,500 m / 11,483 ft: High-altitude village with expansive Manaslu views.
- Samagaon — 3,570 m / 11,713 ft: Main acclimatization base before the Manaslu Base Camp hike.
- Manaslu Base Camp — 4,800 m / 15,748 ft: Highest point of the acclimatization hike.
- Samdo — 3,870 m / 12,697 ft: High-altitude settlement before the final approach.
- Larke Phedi / Dharmasala — 4,460 m / 14,633 ft: Final overnight stop before crossing the pass.
- Larke La Pass — 5,106 m / 16,752 ft: Highest point of the entire trek.
Recognizing Altitude Sickness
Common symptoms of AMS may include:
- Headache
- Nausea or reduced appetite
- Dizziness
- Unusual fatigue
- Difficulty sleeping
Report these symptoms to your trekking guide rather than continuing upward without assessment. More serious warning signs include confusion, difficulty walking or coordinating movements, repeated vomiting, or breathlessness while resting.
If serious altitude illness is suspected, do not continue ascending. Medical assessment and descent to a lower elevation may be necessary.
How to Manage Altitude on the Manaslu Circuit
- Ascend progressively: Follow the planned itinerary rather than rushing through elevation gains.
- Use acclimatization days properly: The Samagaon and Samdo stages are important preparation for the higher section.
- Maintain a steady pace: Slow, consistent walking is more sustainable at altitude than pushing for speed.
- Stay hydrated and eat regularly: Adequate fluids and nutrition help maintain energy during long trekking days.
- Communicate early: Tell your guide about headaches, nausea, dizziness, unusual fatigue or any change in how you feel.
- Respect the Larke La crossing: The pass involves high altitude, cold conditions and a long trekking day, so follow your guide's pacing and safety advice.
How Nepal Lion Tours Supports the Trek
Nepal Lion Tours organizes the practical trekking arrangements for this Manaslu Circuit itinerary, including a licensed trekking guide, route logistics, required permits and accommodation and meals included in the package. The trekking team accompanies you along the planned route and helps coordinate the daily schedule, allowing you to focus on walking, acclimatization and enjoying the journey.
For altitude-related concerns, your guide can monitor how you are responding to the changing elevation and advise you when to rest, slow your pace or seek further assistance. Trekkers should still carry appropriate travel insurance with medical coverage and take personal responsibility for informing the guide about any symptoms.
Best Time to Trek the Manaslu Circuit
The best time for the Manaslu Circuit Trek is generally spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November). These months offer more favorable conditions for the long mountain route and the 5,106 m Larke La Pass. Autumn is usually clearer after the monsoon, while spring brings milder conditions and blooming rhododendrons at lower elevations.
Season | Months | What to Expect | Suitability |
Spring | March–May | Mild conditions at lower elevations, improving mountain visibility, and rhododendron blooms. Snow can remain around Larke La early in the season. | Very favorable |
Autumn | September–November | Generally drier conditions and clearer mountain views, particularly in October and November. | Very favorable |
Winter | December–February | Freezing temperatures, shorter days, and possible snow or ice around the high pass. | Challenging |
Monsoon | June–August | Frequent rain in lower sections, cloudier views, wet trails and potentially difficult road conditions. | Less favorable |
Manaslu Circuit in Spring
March to May is a strong period for the trek. Lower sections become warmer as spring progresses, while the higher route can still have snow and cold conditions, particularly around Larke La early in the season. Rhododendrons also add seasonal color to the lower and middle sections of the route.
Manaslu Circuit in Autumn
September to November is another preferred trekking window. September can still receive some post-monsoon rain, while October and November generally bring drier conditions and clearer mountain views. This makes autumn particularly suitable for the high-altitude sections and Larke La crossing.
Winter and Monsoon Considerations
Winter brings significantly colder conditions at higher elevations, with snow and freezing temperatures possible around the pass. The monsoon period from roughly June to September brings substantially more rainfall to Nepal, which can affect lower trails, visibility and road access to the Manaslu trailhead.
Which Season Should You Choose?
For most trekkers, autumn offers favorable conditions for mountain views and the Larke La section, while spring combines comfortable trekking conditions with seasonal rhododendron blooms. Winter requires greater tolerance for cold and snow, while monsoon trekking requires more flexibility with weather and trail conditions.
Always check the latest weather, trail and pass conditions before departure, as conditions can vary significantly at high altitude.
Manaslu Circuit Trek Permits & Regulations
The Manaslu Circuit Trek passes through the Manaslu Conservation Area and a government-designated restricted trekking area, so several permits and registrations are required before starting the trek. The current requirements include the Manaslu Conservation Area entry fee, TIMS Card, and a restricted-area trekking permit. The Manaslu Circuit is also among the routes where trekkers must be accompanied by a licensed trekking guide.
For trekkers booking with Nepal Lion Tours, the required permit and registration arrangements are handled as part of the pre-trek preparation, based on the regulations applicable at the time of departure.
Manaslu Trek Permits at a Glance
Requirement | Purpose | Arrangement |
Manaslu Conservation Area Entry Permit/Fee | Entry into the protected Manaslu Conservation Area | Nepal Lion Tours |
TIMS Card | Trekker registration and route management | Nepal Lion Tours |
Manaslu Restricted-Area Trekking Permit | Required for the restricted Manaslu area | Nepal Lion Tours |
The exact permit fees and conditions can change, so current requirements should be confirmed before departure. The Department of Immigration currently lists Chumnubri Rural Municipality in Gorkha as the Manaslu restricted area.
Manaslu Conservation Area Entry Permit
The route enters the Manaslu Conservation Area, so trekkers must pay the applicable conservation-area entry fee. The Nepal Tourism Board currently lists an entry fee for the Manaslu Conservation Area, with different rates for Nepali, SAARC and other foreign visitors.
Trekkers should have:
- A valid passport
- The required conservation-area entry documentation
- Permit details arranged before entering the trekking area
For guests travelling with Nepal Lion Tours, the applicable conservation-area permit arrangement is handled as part of the trekking preparation.
TIMS Card for the Manaslu Circuit
The Trekkers' Information Management System (TIMS) Card is required for the Manaslu Circuit under Nepal's current trekking regulations. Nepal Tourism Board specifically lists the Manaslu Circuit Trek among routes requiring a TIMS Card and a licensed trekking guide.
The TIMS registration records details such as the trekker, guide and trekking route. Current TIMS charges and procedures are set by the relevant authorities and can be revised.
Restricted-Area Permit for Manaslu
Unlike standard trekking routes in unrestricted areas, the Manaslu Circuit requires a restricted-area trekking permit because the route passes through the designated Manaslu restricted area.
The permit is issued through the Department of Immigration and is arranged through an authorized trekking agency rather than independently by an individual trekker.
The permit fee varies according to the season and length of stay, so the applicable amount should be confirmed for your departure dates.
Do You Need a Special Permit for the Manaslu Circuit?
Yes. The standard Manaslu Circuit falls within Nepal's restricted trekking area, so trekkers need the applicable Manaslu restricted-area trekking permit in addition to the conservation-area entry requirement and TIMS registration.
If your itinerary is extended into Tsum Valley or another restricted area, additional permits or different requirements may apply. Your trekking agency should verify the complete permit list before departure.
Who Arranges the Permits?
When you book the Manaslu Circuit Trek with Nepal Lion Tours, the team handles the required permit and TIMS arrangements as part of the pre-trek preparation. You should provide accurate passport information and carry your original passport during the trek for identification and possible permit checks.
Because trekking regulations and government fees can change, the final permit requirements and applicable charges should always be confirmed before your departure.
Food & Accommodation on the Manaslu Circuit Trek
Accommodation and meals on the Manaslu Circuit Trek are based mainly on local teahouses and mountain lodges. Facilities are generally more basic than on Nepal's busier trekking routes, especially at higher elevations and around Larke Phedi (Dharmasala).
You can expect simple rooms, shared facilities and freshly prepared meals at most overnight stops. As the trail climbs toward Samagaon, Samdo and Larke La, services become more limited, so flexibility is part of the high-altitude trekking experience.
Teahouse Accommodation on the Manaslu Circuit
Most nights are spent in locally operated teahouses or trekking lodges, typically in twin-sharing rooms. Facilities vary considerably between villages.
Common facilities include:
- Twin-sharing rooms with basic beds and bedding.
- Shared bathrooms at most lodges.
- Hot showers at selected stops, usually for an additional charge.
- Electricity for lighting and charging, with charging availability becoming more limited at higher elevations.
- Dining rooms used as the main communal area for meals and evening rest.
- Wi-Fi or mobile connectivity at some settlements, but service is not consistent throughout the route.
Accommodation is generally more developed in places such as Namrung and Samagaon. Lodges become simpler as you approach Samdo and Dharmasala, where altitude and the remote location limit available facilities.
Dharmasala is particularly basic because it is the final overnight stop before the Larke La crossing. Trekkers should expect practical mountain accommodation rather than hotel-style comfort.
What Food Is Available on the Manaslu Trek?
Teahouses along the Manaslu Circuit serve a combination of traditional Nepali food, simple Tibetan-influenced dishes and familiar trekking meals. Menus become more limited at higher elevations.
Common meals include:
- Dal bhat with rice, lentils, vegetables and pickle
- Momos
- Noodles and noodle soup
- Fried rice
- Pasta
- Soups
- Potatoes
- Eggs
- Porridge
- Pancakes
- Toast and other simple breakfast items
Dal bhat is a practical choice during long trekking days because it provides a substantial meal with rice, lentils and vegetables. Other options are available, although the variety may decrease in remote settlements.
Vegetarian meals are generally available. If you have a vegan, gluten-free or other dietary requirement, inform Nepal Lion Tours before departure so suitable options can be discussed with the lodges along the route.
Meals and Accommodation Included
The standard Manaslu Circuit package includes accommodation and meals during the trekking portion according to the listed package inclusions.
Included During the Trek | Commonly Paid Separately |
Teahouse accommodation | Hot showers |
Breakfast, lunch and dinner | Snacks and personal drinks |
Tea or coffee with included meals, where specified | Bottled beverages |
Twin-sharing accommodation | Wi-Fi or device charging where fees apply |
Trekking arrangements and guide service | Personal expenses and tips |
Exact inclusions should always be checked against the final package details before booking, as lodge facilities and additional charges can vary by location.
Drinking Water on the Manaslu Circuit
Water is available from teahouses and local sources along the route, but untreated natural or tap water should not be assumed to be safe for drinking.
Trekkers can generally purchase bottled water or use boiled or treated water. Carrying a reusable bottle together with a water filter, purification tablets or another reliable treatment method is a practical option.
Water availability and treatment options can become more limited at higher elevations, so plan your supply before longer sections of the route.
Staying Comfortable in Manaslu Teahouses
Mountain accommodation is simple, but a few habits can make the experience easier:
- Carry a reusable water bottle or hydration system.
- Keep essential personal items accessible rather than packed deep in your luggage.
- Carry some cash for showers, charging, snacks and drinks.
- Bring warm layers for cold mornings and evenings.
- Keep electronics protected from cold and moisture.
- Inform your guide about dietary requirements before the trek.
The Manaslu Circuit Trek combines traditional teahouse stays with increasingly remote mountain environments. From the villages around Namrung and Samagaon to the basic lodges near Dharmasala, the accommodation reflects the changing altitude and remoteness of the route.
Why Book the Manaslu Circuit Trek with Nepal Lion Tours?
The Manaslu Circuit Trek requires more planning than a short, well-developed trekking route. The combination of restricted-area permits, remote villages, high-altitude acclimatization and the 5,106 m Larke La Pass makes reliable local coordination important.
With Nepal Lion Tours, the trek is organized around clear logistics, licensed guide support and the practical requirements of a high-altitude Manaslu journey.
- Licensed guide with local route knowledge
Your trek is accompanied by a licensed trekking guide who understands the Manaslu route, changing trail conditions, village logistics and the demands of the high-altitude sections. Having a knowledgeable guide is particularly important before the Larke La crossing and during the higher sections of the circuit.
- Permit and registration support
The Manaslu Circuit requires several trekking documents, including the applicable Manaslu restricted-area permit, Manaslu Conservation Area entry documentation and TIMS registration. Nepal Lion Tours handles the required arrangements as part of the pre-trek preparation, reducing the paperwork you need to manage independently.
- Planned acclimatization at the right elevations
The itinerary includes acclimatization time around Samagaon and Samdo rather than treating the high pass as a simple ascent. The Samagaon day includes a hike toward Manaslu Base Camp at 4,800 m, while the Samdo acclimatization day allows an optional higher-altitude hike before continuing toward Larke Phedi.
- A complete Manaslu Circuit in a compact itinerary
The 12-day itinerary covers the major sections of the route, from Machha Khola and the Budi Gandaki Valley through Namrung, Shyala, Samagaon and Samdo to Larke La and Bimtang. It combines mountain scenery, Buddhist heritage and high-altitude trekking within one continuous journey.
- Local support for a remote trekking region
The Manaslu region has fewer facilities than Nepal's more established trekking areas, particularly at higher elevations. A locally based team can coordinate accommodation, transport, permits and daily trekking arrangements while you are on the route.
- Clear package pricing and included services
The trek starts from USD 831.25 per person, with pricing varying according to group size and package category. The standard package covers key trekking arrangements such as accommodation, meals, licensed guide service, transportation, permits and other services listed in the package inclusions.
- Flexible options for different travellers
The trek can be arranged for solo travellers, couples, families and small private groups, subject to the applicable package rate and departure arrangements. Private trekking also allows the itinerary to be organized around your preferred travel dates.
- Direct contact with a Nepal-based trekking team
From pre-departure preparation to the trek itself, Nepal Lion Tours provides a local point of contact for questions about permits, transportation, accommodation, packing and route arrangements. This is particularly useful when preparing for a trek that reaches more than 5,000 metres.

If you want to explore more of the Manaslu region, adding Tsum Valley creates a longer journey through its distinctive villages and cultural landscapes. The Annapurna Circuit is another option for trekkers looking for a longer route with a higher maximum altitude.

Morning
Today is dedicated to acclimatization as we spend another night at Samagaon. The gradual ascent provides an excellent opportunity for your body to adjust to the increasing altitude while experiencing the spectacular high-mountain environment.
Midday
Continue along the mountain trail while enjoying views of Birendra Lake, surrounding glaciers, high-altitude vegetation, and the impressive Manaslu Himalayan range. The changing landscape and rugged mountain terrain create a memorable setting for the acclimatization hike. Take a break for lunch and allow yourself time to rest before continuing the route.
Afternoon
After exploring the area around Manaslu Base Camp and taking in the surrounding Himalayan scenery, begin the descent back toward Samagaon. The route includes both uphill and downhill sections, so maintain a steady pace and follow your trekking leader's guidance. The gradual return also helps reinforce the benefits of the day's acclimatization activity.

The route passes through a combination of gradual uphill and downhill sections, with the overall journey involving a steady gain in elevation. Afternoon
After lunch, continue toward Samdo, maintaining a steady rhythm rather than walking too quickly. Stay with the trekking group and follow your trekking leader's guidance, particularly as the altitude increases. Take time to appreciate the dramatic Himalayan surroundings and share the experience with fellow trekkers along this memorable section of the route.
Evening
Arrive at Samdo and check into a local teahouse. After settling in, enjoy dinner and spend the evening resting in preparation for the higher-altitude trekking ahead. A comfortable night's rest will help you conserve energy for the next stage of the Manaslu Circuit.
Morning
After breakfast, spend the day acclimatizing in Samdo and exploring the surrounding high-altitude landscape. Following the relatively gentle trek from Samagaon to Samdo, today provides valuable time for your body to adjust to the elevation before moving toward even higher terrain. Begin the chosen side hike at a comfortable pace.
Midday
There are two options for today's excursion. The shorter option involves hiking toward Samdo Peak and visiting the village monastery, providing beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and deep valleys while offering an opportunity to experience the area's Buddhist culture.
For a more challenging excursion, continue toward the Tibet–Nepal border. This round-trip hike takes approximately 6–7 hours and follows a rugged, rocky trail with a significant uphill ascent toward the border pillar.
Afternoon
Those undertaking the border hike can enjoy impressive views toward the Tibetan side, including a distinctive perspective of Mount Manaslu and the surrounding Himalayan landscape. Carry a packed lunch and take time to rest and appreciate the dramatic scenery before retracing the trail toward Samdo. Trekkers choosing the shorter option can return to the village earlier and spend additional time resting and acclimatizing.
Evening
Return to Samdo and settle back into the local teahouse. Enjoy dinner and relax after the day's excursion. Spending another night at this altitude provides additional time for acclimatization before continuing toward the higher sections of the Manaslu Circuit.
Morning
After breakfast, leave Samdo and continue toward Larke La Phedi, also known as Dharmasala, the final overnight stop before crossing the challenging Larke La Pass. The trail gradually enters a more remote high-altitude environment, with rugged terrain and dramatic mountain landscapes surrounding the route.
Midday
Continue at a steady and comfortable pace as the elevation increases. The landscape becomes increasingly barren and alpine, with fewer signs of permanent settlement. Stop for lunch along the route and take time to rest while enjoying the impressive Himalayan scenery.
Afternoon
Arrive at Dharmasala, a small and remote settlement with only a few basic teahouses. After checking in, use the afternoon to rest and conserve energy for the demanding pass crossing ahead. Your trekking leader will provide important guidance about the following day's route, pacing, clothing, equipment, and other preparations.
Evening
Enjoy an early dinner and settle in for the night. Since tomorrow involves crossing Larke La Pass at 5,106 meters (16,752 feet), getting sufficient rest and staying properly prepared are especially important. Prepare your belongings and get a good night's sleep before one of the most demanding and memorable stages of the Manaslu Circuit Trek.
